Prof. Dr. Zekai GÖRGÜLÜ Architecture Students Collage and Visual Metaphor Competition

The 4.5th International Architecture Biennial of Antalya (IABA) is being organized under the theme “In-Between”, aiming to provide a platform for discussion around the question:
“Where are architecture and the city evolving in the new world order?”

Within the scope of this theme, it is expected that subtopics frequently discussed both in Turkey and around the world will be addressed through a multidimensional approach. These include artificial intelligence, limitless digitalization, technological hegemony, the phenomenon of social media, migration and displacement, conflict and war, human health and the threat of global pandemics, sustainability and resilience, climate and environmental urgency, access to food, healthy living environments and housing, social and spatial justice, urban, spatial and human security, cultural erosion, social and spatial boundaries and permeability, and community and urban identity.

The Collage and Visual Metaphor Competition invites architecture students to interpret the concepts of architecture, city, and space in line with the theme of the 4.5th International Architecture Biennial of Antalya (IABA), titled “In-Between.”

The competition aims to encourage participants to express, interpret, and critique their observations and discoveries across various scales and contexts through experimental and creative visuals; to explore architecture, the city, and space beyond traditional boundaries; and to question the dialogues between tensions, contrasts, transitions, and hybrid conditions that shape the contemporary architectural environment and discourse.

The works will be evaluated based on originality, conceptual depth, visual impact, and relevance to the theme. While the competition provides architecture students with a platform to showcase their creativity and critical thinking skills, it also aims to contribute to this year’s Biennial theme and inspire discussions on the dynamics of architecture and urbanization in today’s world through the students’ productions.
