Organized biennially by the Chamber of Architects Antalya Branch around a designated theme, the International Antalya Architecture Biennial aims to provide a platform for discussion and exchange on architecture and urban issues. In November 2025, it will be held for the fifth time. The Biennial holds the distinction of being Turkey’s first and only international architecture biennial.

The first edition took place in 2011 with the theme Intersections.
The second in 2013 focused on Template,
The third in 2015 explored Thinking The Future,
And the fourth in 2017 addressed Continuity.

According to the regular schedule, the fifth edition was originally planned for 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed and the biennial series was temporarily interrupted.

With the 2025 edition, the International Antalya Architecture Biennial aims to return to its regular rhythm. The theme of the 2025 gathering, In-Between, is envisioned as both a reminder and a transitional event towards reestablishing this rhythm.

In this context, the use of “4.5” in the title of the fifth edition symbolically represents this transitional phase.

At the same time, “4.5” refers to the in-between state brought about by the pandemic—changes in daily life practices on both global and local scales, some of which have become permanent—marking a passage between former norms and newly emerging ones; a sort of state of being in-between.M
